Physical and Mental Health

Mission Statement:

As an organization of predominantly African American women, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is uniquely positioned to impact not only the well-being of its membership, but also the well-being of families and communities at large. Journey to Wellness:  Committing our Bodies to Physical and Mental Health is now the signature Physical and Mental Health “call to action”.  The initiative addresses the challenges of living holistic and health lives. The three-pronged approach to Journey to Wellness includes:

1.  Mental Health Across the Lifepan (MHAL)

2.  A refocused Lose to Win! that includes Physical Activity and Healthy Eating

3.  Awareness of Illnesses Health Conditions important to our community


To improve the health and wellness of ASAC and our service area through education, awareness, and action.

Goals for 2015-2017:

  • Provide preventative information for physical and mental health issues that majorly affect underrepresented communities.

  • Increase awareness of health disparities.

  • Provide awareness and solutions for of bullying in the schools and work.

  • Adjust mental health welfare in under-represented communities through seminars, lectures, and support groups.

  • Engage sorors and community in activities that facilitate behavior change and improve physical and mental health.
