Physical and Mental Health

Mission Statement:

As an organization of predominantly African American women, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is uniquely positioned to impact not only the well-being of its membership, but also the well-being of families and communities at large. Journey to Wellness:  Committing our Bodies to Physical and Mental Health is now the signature Physical and Mental Health “call to action”.  The initiative addresses the challenges of living holistic and healthy lives. The three-pronged approach to Journey to Wellness includes:

  1. Mental Health Across the Lifespan (MHAL)
  2. A refocused Lose to Win! that includes Physical Activity and Healthy Eating
  3. Physical Health: Chronic diseases


To improve the health and wellness of Atlanta Suburban Alumnae Chapter and our service area through education, awareness, and action for the Total Woman: Mind, Body and Spirit.


  • Provide preventative information for physical and mental health issues that affect underrepresented and/or female communities
  • Increase awareness of health and healthcare disparities
  • Provide awareness and solutions for bullying in the schools and work
  • Address mental health welfare in underrepresented communities through seminars, lectures, webinars and support groups
  • Engage in community based activities that facilitate behavior change and improve physical and mental health.
  • Provide healthier focused menus and recipes, along with the associated health benefits

Delta S.I.Z.E.D. – Sorors, Invigorated, Zealous, Energized, and Determined for physical activity. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is now committed to integrating physical activities during all of its conventions, conferences and state meetings.
