Greetings,
The women of the esteemed Atlanta Suburban Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. extend to you our sincerest welcome as you navigate throughout our informative website. We invite you to explore our chapter’s historical past rooted in community service to the Atlanta, Douglasville, Fayetteville, and Clayton County communities.
Since chartering on April 24, 1993, the awesome women of Atlanta Suburban Alumnae Chapter have worked to organize and implement innovative programs that positively impact and transform our diverse communities. It is with a great deal of enthusiasm and love that I begin my term as the 7th President of this illustrious chapter. The Executive Board and I are charged and ready to take our chapter to the next level of service, sisterhood, and scholarship.
Atlanta Suburban Alumnae Chapter continues to create collaborative partnerships and develop sustainable and effective programs. Current programs include Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy, Delta GEMS, Financial Empowerment Seminars, Voter Education and Registration, Delta Challenge-Home Ownership Initiative, Community Health Fairs, and providing school supplies and hygiene kits to over 100 children and families in Haiti. We will expand our programs this year to include new national initiatives such as Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence, Adopt a Child/Sponsor a Child program, U.S. Census 2010, Catching, Coping, and Conquering (a focus on chronic illnesses impacting the African-American community), and My Cry in the Dark ( a focus on mental health).
Our annual signature fundraising event, the Mad Hatters Scholarship Fashion Show and Luncheon, since its inception has allowed us to award over $127,000.00 in scholarships to local high school graduates.
As we move in this fast paced global society, there is much work to be done, so we ask that you join us to transform our community through supporting our fundraising events and partnering with us to implement stellar public service programs.
So my sisters, friends and supporters, thank you for taking the time to learn more about the new, existing, and innovative programs that help Atlanta Suburban Alumnae Chapter transform lives and impact communities.
Whether you are visiting to obtain information about Delta or are looking for a local chapter to affiliate, You are Welcome Here!
Sincerely,
Jackie E. Williams, Ph.D
President Atlanta Suburban Alumnae Chapter
