In recognition of National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (March 10, 2018) the Auburn Avenue Research Library in collaboration with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. – Atlanta Suburban Alumnae Chapter will host a screening of the documentary film Wilhemina’s War.
Directed by Emmy award winning journalist and educator June Cross, Wilhemina’s War intimately explores the grim reality of Wilhemina Dixon’s fight to help her granddaughter survive the health risks and social stigma of living with HIV in South Carolina. Shot over the course of five years, the film bears witness to the resilience and determination of the human spirit in the face of tremendous adversity.
This event will include a post screening community dialogue. National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NWGHAAD) is an annual observance that sheds light on the impact of HIV and AIDS on women and girls.
This event is free and open to the public at 101 Auburn Avenue NE, Atlanta, GA 30303.
