In November 2016, residents of Unincorporated South Fulton voted to create a new city. State leaders have been committed to an efficient process to transition South Fulton residents to local governance. One of the first steps will be the election of local leaders. Per its charter, South Fulton will begin on May 1, 2017 with an elected Mayor and seven (7) City Council Members.
By the end of the mid-January qualifying period, 71 candidates had tossed their “names in the hat” to ask for YOUR votes. Several organizations are joining forces (East Point Alphas, Nu Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. , Pi Alpha Omega Chapter, Atlanta Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.,East Point/College Park Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Atlanta Suburban Alumnae Chapter – Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.) to host a Candidate Meet & Greet for ALL City of South Fulton citizens. Both the event and parking are FREE.
All candidates have been invited to the event. Candidates for Mayor and City Council will be grouped according to district and have informational tables. Citizens will be able to engage directly with candidates and pick up informational materials. A list of qualified candidates is at www.fultonelections.com.
Please plan to attend and please bring your South Fulton family and neighbors with you. As a reminder, Early Voting runs from February 27 – March17, 2017. Election Day is March 21, 2017.
